A cyclist was left critically injured after being run down by a car in a 'targeted attack'.
Police said the rider was first 'attacked with a weapon' before being hit by a blue Toyota Yaris on Bowness Road in Middleton this morning.
The Toyota then fled the scene, leaving the cyclist - a man aged in his 30s - seriously injured.
The victim was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police found the victim also had facial injuries consistent with being attacked with a weapon, though it is unknown when he suffered these injuries at this stage.
