Detectives have released a CCTV image after a woman was followed into her apartment before being sexually assaulted. Greater Manchester Police says it received a report about the attack in a Manchester city centre flat at around 10am today (June 24).
Police were told that the woman had been 'tailgated' into her apartment block by a man. He is then believed to have pushed through her apartment door before sexually assaulting her.
Officers investigating the incident believe it is linked to an incident on Plymouth Grove, to the south of the city centre, earlier this week. Police say they received a report of 'suspicious circumstances' on the road on Wednesday, June 22.

GMP is now moving to reassure the community following the incident. This evening, the force has released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to, and anyone who recognises the person in the photo is asked to contact the force as soon as possible.
Detective Inspector Geoff Machent, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “I would first and foremost like to reassure members of the public that we have officers in the city centre and anyone who is concerned can approach them. We are carrying out extensive enquiries to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible but we are appealing for the public’s help to identify the man in the image.
"We’d also ask people in the area to be vigilant and report any suspicions." Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 6059, quoting 966 of June 24, 2022, or the independent charity Crimestoppers - anonymously - on 0800 555 111.
