A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.
Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses of the crash - which happened just after 10.10pm - to come forward. They particularly want to speak to anyone who might have dash cam footage.
"Officers from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit have begun to conduct their initial enquiries into what caused the collision, and are asking anyone with information or dash-cam footage from the area on Saturday night to contact them as it could prove to be vital evidence", a GMP statement said.
