Temperatures could near 40 degrees Celsius over the next couple of days amid a severe red weather warning. And as the weather continues to heat up, so have sales of essential heatwave summer items.
With the heat set to soar early this week it's no surprise that the sales of fans, paddling pools, BBQs and even ice lollies have been soaring, with some supermarket freezers looking a little emptier than normal.

As a result of the hot weather and more of us leaning towards having BBQs, Tesco is predicting it will sell 50,000 bottles of Pimms, nearly 700,000 bread rolls, and 2.5million iceberg lettuces - and that's all within the next week.
And its not just food, as Tesco's newly launched range of garden inflatables, slip n' slides and paddling pools have flown out of its stores. Over the past week it has sold 14 times more paddling pools than last week and its water games sales have increased by 1568%.
BBQ sales have also doubled in the past 7 days as the 'spend a little, live a lot' retailer Aldi launched a sale on its popular summer items. Its Fervour Dual Fuel BBQ is reduced by 25% at £149.99, and selling fast is its 14ft Summer Waves pool.

The current heatwave is set to peak on Tuesday with forecasters warning of ‘population-wide adverse health effects' due to temperatures of nearly 40 degrees - the highest ever recorded in the UK.
