S Club 7's Jo O'Meara has shared an update after she was rushed in hospital for emergency back surgery. The singer, 43, who injured her back in 2002, first let her followers know that she was in hospital a week ago after 'horrendous pain.'
She posted a photograph of herself in a hospital gown and red socks as she put a hand to her chest and stared solemnly into the camera. In the post that she captioned "UPDATE", she first apologised for having to cancel her headlining appearance at Fife Pride on Saturday, despite previously insisting she would perform.
She then revealed that she was needing surgery to "remove the disk" in her back. Jo wrote: "As you may well know I have had some health issues with my back recently and it has resulted in me needing surgery to remove the disc and fix the problem.

"The pain has been unbearable, and I have been advised surgery is now my only option and been told this is something that’s needs doing urgently to prevent further damage to my back! so I will be going in for the procedure tomorrow!"
She finished her post apologising profusely for missing the pride event, saying that she was "beyond upset to be missing out on such a special day", before imploring her fans to "Reach for the Stars", reports the Mirror. Her fans rushed to wish her well in the comments, with one writing: "Good luck Jo. Hope the surgery helps you out once and for all. Take all the rest you need xxxx"
