A pensioner has died after a fire broke out at a block of flats in Leigh.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Ledgard Avenue at about 4.35am today (December 27).
A woman in her 70s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire crews put out the fire, but remained in the area throughout this morning.
Forensics officers have also been pictured working at the scene.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman's death, say police.
No other injuries have been reported.
