Paramedics and police officers raced through the city centre on Wednesday evening following a fatal 'double stabbing' in Ancoats. As an air ambulance descended overhead and the roars of the Etihad stadium echoed in the distance, police officers were met with sinister scenes on an otherwise quiet Ancoats street.
At around 6.30pm police confirmed they had been called by paramedics to an incident that had broken out on Pollard Street, close to Manchester city centre. Tragically, one man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other male victim, also in his 20's, is now receiving treatment for leg injuries in hospital. A large cordon was immediately erected on Carruthers Street, as dozens of police vehicles and ambulances parked up outside the old Bank of England pub.
