Manchester City have reportedly begun looking at alternative options should they fail to bring in their number one target at left-back. A stumbling block has reportedly been hit in City's pursuit of Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella.
But whilst City are still strongly keen on bringing him in, and could even spend £50million to do, alternates have reportedly been considered.
And Marca has reported that former target Alex Grimaldo has become an ‘option’ for City should they fail to bring in Cucurella. Grimaldo has been linked with City ever since 2018, and has impressed in the Portuguese league as an attacking full-back.

Elsewhere, Bernardo Silva has been linked with a move away from City several times over the past year, with more rumours this summer suggesting Barcelona have agreed a move for the Portuguese international, whilst PSG have also shown interest.
However, reports now suggest that Guardiola will not let Silva leave the club, and that the player is happy to remain at the club.
Silva joined City from AS Monaco in 2017 and has played in 249 games for the club in his five years - scoring 48 goals with 50 assists.
