A 21-year-old man is to appear in court in connection with a stabbing in Macclesfield. Thomas Coppock, of Crompton Road, Macclesfield, has been charged with section 18 wounding with intent and two counts of common assault.
It comes after a 62-year-old man was found on Crompton Road with numerous injuries to his body and neck at 11.45pm on Saturday. He was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital in a serious condition.

Mr Coppock has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Warrington magistrates' court on September 10. Speaking on Sunday Det Sgt Kate Palin said: "A number of enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the stabbing that has occurred.
“A scene is in place on Crompton Road and I am encouraging residents within the vicinity who may have CCTV or dash cam footage that shows the assault shortly before and after it occurred to contact us. I also want to appeal to anyone who may have information or seen the assault take place to get in touch."
