EXCLUSIVE: Days after her death, Kabosu, the dog that went viral as a meme connected to crypto, is to get her own documentary.
Queer Eye producer Scout Productions is producing underDOGE, a doc about the Shiba Inu and her owner.
Kabosu, whose side eye became infamous after a 2013 Tumblr post, became the face of a cryptocurrency and an NFT of the image was sold a few years ago for $4M.
Scout is now working with production companies First Gen Studios, Dukes Up and Own the Doge to tell its story, as well as that of her owner Atsuko, a 62-year-old kindergarten teacher from Japan.
The doc is directed by Jon Lynn and is produced by Joel Chiodi, David Collins, Rob Eric and Michael Williams at Scout Productions, Daniel Laikind and Anuj Gupta of First Gen Studios and Evan Rosenfeld of Dukes Up.
The project has been developed in partnership with Atsuko Sato and Own The Doge, the owners and rights holders of the original Doge image, and in collaboration with PleasrDAO, the digital art collective that bought the Doge NFT auction.
It is Scout’s latest documentary; the company is behind The Secrets of Hillsong on FX, MerPeople on Netflix, Equal on Max, and I Love You, You Hate Me on Peacock.
