A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm after armed police swooped on a street in east Manchester. It came after reports a man was seen 'waving a potential firearm' on the balcony of a building in West Gorton.
The call came in on Sunday night, police say. Inside officers found a rifle which has been seized.
The man, 38, remains in custody for questioning.

Police were called to the scene on Wenlock Way at 10pm on Sunday.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 10pm last night to a report of a male waving a potential firearm on the balcony of a building on Wenlock Way.
"Armed officers were swiftly deployed to the area and a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm. He remains in custody for questioning.
"A search of the address also led to the find and seizure of the suspected firearm."
