All the flood warnings and flood alerts in place across Greater Manchester as danger to life notice issued

Flood warnings and alerts have been issued across Greater Manchester as torrential rain and wind continues to batter the region.

Two severe flood warnings have been issued in south Manchester which could pose a 'danger to life'.

Both East and West Didsbury have been put under the highest warning level after the River Mersey burst its banks, with some residents told they may need to evacuate their homes.

The government's Environment Agency has also issued five warnings where flooding is 'expected' and 14 flood alerts, where flooding is possible, are also in place.

River Mersey at East Didsbury

A severe flood warning has been issued because of heavy and persistent rainfall resulting in rising river levels on the River Mersey at Didsbury today. Consequently, there will be an increased risk of flooding to properties from the River Mersey this afternoon, and overnight into Monday, 21/02/2022.

Evacuation plans are in place for any residents who may need to move to keep themselves safe. If you believe that you are in immediate danger, please call 999. Anyone with urgent need for care and support should call the Council's Contact Centre on 0161 234 5001.

Flood warning area: Properties at East Didsbury around Millgate Lane and Parrs Wood Road including Tuscan Road to Broad Oak Lane. Also at risk, properties around Kingsway including Wilmslow Road to Merston Drive, Millgate Farm and Old Bedians sports centre.
