I tried the Sky Glass hands-free voice control and it understands my partner more than me

If you're new to the Sky Glass experience you will soon realise that the above sentence will replace the often recurring phrase of "where's the remote?" it certainly has in our household.

Sky Glass is Sky's brand new TV which relies solely on a good, strong broadband connection. There's no need for a satellite dish or a TV box, you just connect to you Wi-Fi router and away you go.

The TV, which comes in three sizes and various modern colours, also boasts hands-free voice-control, something Sky appear to be very proud of and probably hope to be up there with the big tech giants including the likes of Amazon's Alexa, and Google's 'Hey Google' command.

But is the gimmick worthwhile and is it needed on a television? I was about to find out. You can read my full review of the Sky Glass TV including set-up, picture, sound quality and value for money here.

I was lucky enough to test the 65inch TV, in a Dusty Pink colour, but being new to Sky I wasn't too sure what to expect and had nothing to compare to it previously. When it comes to its voice control though I did have my Amazon Echo Dot device which comes with Alexa, so this gave me a standard to set the new TV too.

Sky Glass has hands-free voice control, and you talk to it by saying “Hello Sky” to find what to watch. The voice control is designed to allow users to find TV shows, channels, apps and more on the Sky Glass TV. You can either say "Hello Sky" direct to the TV when entering the room or press and hold the voice button on your Sky remote, and speak clearly into the microphone below the Sky logo, and release the button when you've finished speaking.
