A Tube passenger who carried out a terrifying machete attack on a random commuter and a father who murdered his daughter by twice running over her body with his car were just two of the notorious criminals from across the UK locked up last month.
Other offenders facing lengthy jail terms include a man who stabbed his neighbour to death after becoming annoyed by motorbike noise outside his house and a man who committed a brutal assault on a baby and then tried to blame an innocent child.
An obsessed stalker with a fixation on TV presenter Emily Maitlis and a British headteacher who groomed at least 131 children using social media while working abroad were also put behind bars in September.

A man struck his blind wife in the head with a meat cleaver because she had knocked his Xbox and television over. Jonathan Eldridge had been out drinking on Christmas Eve 2021 when he returned to the home he shared with wife Victoria to find his games console and TV on the floor, which he told police was the “trigger” for the attack.
The 42-year-old said to officers that he went into the kitchen to pick up a meat cleaver which he hit Mrs Eldridge over the head with, causing a 10cm wound. The court heard that “rather by luck than judgment" she survived the “brutal” attack at their home in Ryde, Isle of Wight.
Ollie Wellings, prosecuting, told Winchester Crown Court that the marriage had been falling apart and in the hours before the attack, Eldridge had attended hospital after taking an overdose. The court heard the defendant had said that
